After another great 5 miler last night with my group, I finally feel back to ‘normal’. We kept it at a nice ~9 min/mile pace, and I finished the last 0.2 miles @ 6:40 min/mile pace. Yesss, feeling good!
I’m heading up to Penn State tomorrow for a mini, Quick, roomie reunion. Since I sort of, um, “skipped” my Long Run last weekend, I want to try and get it in today. I’m debating heading down into DC, running around my apartment, or trying something Completely different. There are a lot of things on the agenda today, so it depends on where I end up around 5 p.m. We’ll see……

One of my favorite running gals, Sassy, passed on an ‘award’ earlier this week. The catch: List 7 traits about yourself. So, you get a dose of me for Friday. This, brought to you by Panera’s free internet that I’m using all morning, and their coffee that is keeping me ALERT -
* It took me 3 years to figure out how to get the iPod ear-buds to stay IN my ears. As I sit here, music-in-head thanks to said ear buds, I wonder what the mystery ever was? I still can’t run with them though. My neck gets too stiff in fear of moving my head too much and having them fall out. Ah, the battle continues….
*I heart Eminem, a Lot. Favorite rapper, hands down, no questions asked. Yes, he’s offensive and vulgar and an on/off drug addict. And, no, this makes no difference.
* People used to ask if my sister (2 1/2 yrs younger than me) and I were twins All The Time. Until the age of ~18 this drove me CRAZY. Then we just went with it, because if we answered “No” it was too much explaining ( and nobody thinks I’m older. gah!). At the age of 16 she got invited to a bar during her visit to Penn State. At the age of 22, I am still occasionally asked if I’m older than 18. Geeze.
*Even after 12 years of soccer, running was “not my thing”. I didn’t really “enjoy” it until college. Of course, I was completely addicted after my first half-marathon. I still ocassionally think back to times I ran in high school, when it took me a good 18-20 minutes to finish 2 miles and I felt like I was knocking on Death’s door! Ah, progress.
*I haven’t started Full marathons yet…..but when I do, I want to be a “Maniac“! It’s crazy to run 26.2 miles. Really, it is. So if you’re gonna go, go All out, right? Exactly.
*In the last 5 years, I’ve lived in 4 states – home (NM), college (PA), a semester working for the Mouse (FL), and post-college life (MD)! My heart has settled on DC for now.
*My car died a few weeks ago, and had to be replaced. I’m in love with the new one, but we have one issue. In order to keep my NM plates, the car had to be in NM – not gonna happen any time soon! Uh oh. My “out of state plates” are my “get out of jail FREE” card! Stupid move on I-95? Accidentally cutting somebody off getting on the beltway? Hey! I’m out of state! Not anymore…..sad day.
*******
And that’s all for now.

I gave up on ear buds…I couldn’t get them to stay in to save my life!
People at work think I’m 17…and then get confused when I tell them I’m the nurse!
I was sad when I finally got my Pennsylvania plates…I liked playing the “I’m new here!” card when I did dumb moves on the road. I still do them, however.

Heather, I have the exact same issues with the ear buds! Too funny. I am in an eternal search for the perfect headphones.
Great job on the 5 miler. I think you should do your long run in State College. A run down memory lane … Enjoy! You guys should have perfect weather this weekend.

Ya I can’t do the ear buds either. My ears (along w/the rest of me) sweat too much. I have to use the ones that curve behind the ear to hold them in place.
And I will always and forever look 15. I hope to someday appreciate that. Right now, not so much.

Ohhh, people used to ask if my younger sister (she’s 21, I’m 23) if we were twins ALL the time when we were younger. I HATED it, too! Absolutely hated it. Now we look nothing alike and people think she’s older. Can’t win!!!

This is a good top 7! I’m out of town this weekend too. We’ll see how running goes.

Girl, you need to get some new head phones! Get the ones that loop over your ear, like $14 at Walmart
I can’t believe you want to be a MANIAC!!!! AH, I am AMAZED by those people. I can’t even imagine running a full-marathon right now, I always feel so dead after 13.1. One day though, one day…

HA! Okay, my sis is 2 years younger than me and everyone a) used to think we were twins (until she suddenly grew 4 inches taller than me at some point in high school), and b) is convinced that she is the older one. The twin issue probably wasn’t helped by the fact that my mother insisted on dressing us in the EXACT SAME CLOTHING until we finally started dressing ourselves!
Love these kinds of lists, though. It’s so much fun to learn random things about everyone!

get outta here… i used to have so many issues with those stupid ear buds! finally i got the hang of it and they safely ride in my ears with out much bother. i think my ears formed around them LOL
i didn’t realize you were 22… for some reason i thought you were way older than me– like 26 or something… NEATO!
eminem is my hero. i LOVE his music. and like you said, dosent matter what he does, it dosent change the way i feel. i think its a mutual relationship. between him and 50cent, my life is complete.
so cool that you worked for the mouse… even for just a semester! how fun!
i think you should go crazy and run marathons… i’m just getting into it- we can be crazy together! ha ha ha

I love me some Eminem. He claims to have run two-a-day workouts while getting clean, often running as many as 17 miles a day … maybe that explains why we feel totally comfortable getting pumped up by his misogynistic gangsta rap? Hmmm …
